Privacy Policy

Last updated: 26 August 2026

Headliner ("we", "us", "our") is operated by Franz Etten, an individual based in the United Kingdom, trading as Headliner. This policy explains what personal information we collect when you use Headliner, why we collect it, how long we keep it, and what rights you have over it.

If you have any questions about this policy or want to exercise any of the rights described below, contact us at hi.there.headliner@gmail.com.

1. What we collect

Account information

If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from Google. This is stored in our database to create and identify your account.

Reviews

When you write a review, we store:

  • Your star ratings across four categories (music, food & drink, art & production, facilities)
  • Your written review text, if you include any
  • Up to two "reactions" you select from a fixed list (e.g. immersive, social, relaxing)
  • The year you attended, if provided
  • Your age range, if you choose to share it (this is entirely optional and defaults to not shown)

Reviews are linked to your account and displayed publicly alongside your profile name.

Search queries

When you use our AI-powered search, the text you type is sent to Anthropic (the company behind the Claude AI model we use) to generate festival recommendations. No account or personal information is included in that request — only the text of your search and, if selected, a date filter.

We also plan to store the text of your search query, together with the festivals it returned, in our own database. This helps us understand what people are looking for and improve our recommendations. This will not be linked to your account— it's stored anonymously, without any connection to who you are, even if you were signed in at the time.

Website analytics

If you accept our cookie banner, we use Google Analytics to understand how people use the site — see Section 5: Cookies and Analytics below for full detail.

What we don't collect

We don't collect payment information — ticket purchases happen directly with the festival or ticket provider, not through us. We don't run advertising, and we don't sell or rent your information to anyone.

2. How we use your information

We use the information above to:

  • Create and maintain your account
  • Display your reviews to other users
  • Generate AI-powered festival search results
  • Understand how people use the site, so we can improve it
  • Respond to support requests or account queries sent to our contact email

We do not use your information for automated decision-making that has a legal or similarly significant effect on you.

3. Who we share it with

We use a small number of third-party services to run Headliner. Each acts as a data processor on our behalf — they process data under our instructions, not for their own independent purposes:

These providers may process data on servers outside the UK. Where that happens, we rely on their standard contractual safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) to ensure your data stays protected to UK standards.

We do not sell your personal information to anyone, and we do not share it with advertisers.

4. How long we keep your information

DataAccount informationRetentionUntil you ask us to delete your account
DataReviewsRetentionUntil you delete the review, or your account
DataSearch query logsRetentionUp to 12 months, then automatically deleted
DataWebsite analytics (Google Analytics)RetentionDetailed data: 2 months. Aggregated, non-identifying usage trends: retained longer for reporting purposes

5. Cookies and Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand how people use Headliner, so we can keep making it better. This is the only analytics or tracking tool we use.

We only load Google Analytics if you accept the cookie banner shown when you first visit. If you decline, no analytics cookies are set and no usage data is sent to Google. You can change your mind at any time by clearing your browser's local storage for this site.

What Google Analytics tells us:

  • Which pages and festivals are viewed
  • What kind of searches and filters people use (only the length of what you typed, never the actual text)
  • Which outbound links (festival websites, ticket pages, social profiles) people click through to
  • General usage patterns like session length and returning visits

We do not use Google Analytics for advertising, and we are not running Google Ads or any remarketing. We have not enabled Google's cross-site "Signals" feature.

We do not use any other tracking cookies, pixels, or third-party advertising technology.

6. Your rights

Under UK data protection law, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate information
  • Deleteyour account and associated data ("right to erasure")
  • Object to how we use your information
  • Withdraw consent for analytics at any time (see Section 5)

To exercise any of these rights, email hi.there.headliner@gmail.com. We aim to respond to all requests, including deletion requests, within 30 days.

You also have the right to complain to the UK's data protection regulator, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), at ico.org.uk, if you believe we haven't handled your data properly.

7. Children

Headliner is not intended for children under 16. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone below this age.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time, for example as we add new features. If we make significant changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page. We encourage you to check back occasionally.
