Float Along Festival

Held across a handful of independent venues in Sheffield's city centre, this is a day of hopping between rooms rather than fields, with a wristband getting you into spaces like Sidney & Matilda, Corporation and The Octagon. Live music runs from midday until 11pm, weighted towards post-punk, psychedelic rock and guitar-led indie, with plenty of emerging names sharing bills with a headline act. Once the bands finish, DJ sets carry the night through to 2am for the over-18s. The programming leans on Sheffield's DIY networks and grassroots scene, so much of the appeal lies in catching bands early and following the crowd from venue to venue on foot. With a capacity around a thousand and no camping to worry about, it suits people who want a compact, music-first day out and are happy to build their own running order.
